Introducing the Healthtech World Cup 2026

The world's biggest sporting event is kicking off in 16 hours, and we're running our own version alongside it.

For the next five weeks, as 48 nations chase the FIFA World Cup 2026 across the United States, Canada and Mexico, Clinical Advisors will play out a parallel tournament: the Healthtech World Cup 2026. Same fixtures, same schedule, same road to the final. The difference is how we decide who wins.

What it is

Every time two nations meet on the pitch, they also meet on our scoreboard. We follow the real draw and the real results all the way through to the final on 19 July. But alongside each football result, we call a second winner: the country with the stronger healthtech ecosystem.

It is part serious benchmark, part bit of fun, and a genuinely different way to look at how nations are building the future of healthcare.

How we pick the winner

Each country is scored once, out of 30, across three factors:

  1. Population usage and equity. How widely healthtech tools are actually used, and how fairly that access is spread across the population.

  2. Government initiatives. National strategies, funding and infrastructure, from electronic records to telehealth policy.

  3. Investment. Healthtech funding flowing in, both domestic and foreign.

Higher total takes the win. So a side can lose 3-0 on the pitch and still win on our board. Those gaps are the interesting part. They show where football pedigree and healthtech maturity pull in opposite directions.

What you'll get

  1. A daily post covering the standout match of the day, plus every Socceroos fixture.

  2. A weekly round-up pulling the results together and what they tell us.

  3. A live league table of all 48 nations that fills in as the tournament unfolds. No big reveal at the end. It is public from day one, so you can follow every nation rise and fall in real time and check the scoring for yourself.

By 19 July we'll have crowned two champions, the one lifting the actual trophy, and the one topping our healthtech table. They almost certainly won't be the same country!

Why we're doing it

Underneath the fun there's a real point. Healthtech progress is uneven. Some nations have national strategies, deep investment and broad adoption. Others have pockets of brilliance with little behind them. Lining 48 countries up against each other, week by week, is a simple way to make those differences visible, and to start a conversation about what good actually looks like.

Kick-off

The tournament is under way tomorrow 5am AEST. Follow along on LinkedIn for the daily updates, check back here for the weekly round-ups, and watch the league table take shape live between now and the final.

Let the games begin.
